OPERATION SHOEBOX.CO.UK ARMED FORCES DAY 2010 Armed Forces Day is the last Saturday in June. The day is the annual opportunity for the nation to Show Your Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets. There are hundreds of local events taking place in towns and cities across the UK.  George Horne one of our lads helping us get the parcels out. We send parcels to troops all year around. THE IDEA The idea that gives you the opportunity to help lift spirits and make life a little more bearable for our service men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Amongst the following pages there are ideas for addition to your box and local co-ordinators details.
The idea is to encourage people to fill a shoe box with a range of goodies and useful items that would mean so much to the troops, some of whom have been away from the UK for months and missing basic items that we normally take for granted. We are appealing for people to help fill shoeboxes. We can arrange collection of the boxes and onward delivery. Ian Whiteway one of the organisers said “I’m sure lots of people will be keen to help our troops at a time when they are far from home and engaged in difficult tasks in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It is the little, more humane things that make life out there more tolerable, things like deodorant, sweets, razors and wet wipes. It would be nice if as many people as possible filled a shoe box to help bring a little cheer to our troops and importantly, let them know that back home in Britain we are thinking of them. We need small donations for small purchases and 100% of the funds raised here will go towards buying additional items for boxes. We are run by volunteers and always need your help.
STOP PRESS STOP PRESS STOP PRESS STOP PRESS We need your help in raising the funds to send these parcels out to Afghanistan and need to raise £5000 towards the cost of a container. All parcels can be collected and dates for this and locations can be provided, We ask for a £2 donation to be sellotaped on any boxes we collect this money is for funding our container being sent out towards christmas and in mid july each year. Thankyou to all who donate, Even 1 box makes a difference. Please only fill to a weight of just under 2kg.
